Tutorial for changing a sear in GPT
Replacing the sear on the Glock Performance Trigger 101
Note: Glock does not recommend disassembling the Performance Trigger. So you change the sear at your own risk and if you break the sear cradle, you'll have it broken.
Step 1
Remove the entire trigger from the weapon
Step 2
Pull the trigger bar out of the housing
Step 3
Use a pair of pliers to pull the ejector out of the trigger house.
Step 4
Push the cradle pin out of the sear and pull the spring out of the sear (push and turn)
Step 5
Get our sear tool ready. It's this small and big black plastic piece.
Push the extension piece into the U profile of the sear cradle (the small plastic one). It serves to better grip the cradle.
Step 6
Insert the sear tool key (the big plastic one) into the cradle from the open side.
Step 7
Turn the key and gently pull apart the fork (carefully, do not rip or break it) in which the sear is seated. When opened wide enough, it should fall out on its own (you know the drill).
Step 8
Turn the key again to open the fork and insert the new sear. Be careful to get the orientation right!
Pull out both parts of the sear tool and squeeze the sides of the sear cradle to reduce any resulting deformation of the part. The strong can do it with their fingers, the weak take pliers.
Step 9
Reassemble the trigger assembly in reverse and reinstall it back into the gun. Verify proper function without live ammunition.
